We are condemned to kill time: so we die little by little.
— Octavio Paz, A tale of two gardens

Today marks 20 years since the death of Mexican poet Octavio Paz (March 31, 1914 - April 19, 1998). I couldn't find better words to describe his work than those critic Ramón Xirau wrote: "the poetry of Octavio Paz does not hesitate between language and silence; it leads into the realm of silence where true language lives".
